Setting design direction and aesthetics for a brands first collection

Client:
Hygge
Scope:
Setting design and brand direction
Year:
2020
CONTEXT
I worked on this project as a design consultant for an emerging clothing brand. The objective was to uncover the brand’s core vision, study relevant trends, and establish an underlying direction that could guide its future collections. The outcome was a research-led design language intended to act as a long-term aesthetic compass for the brand. While future collections may respond to evolving trends, this foundation helps maintain a clear and consistent visual identity.
SOLUTION
The final proposal explored three distinct design directions, each rooted in the same core concept defined with the brand team.
PROCESS
The process involved researching the brand’s purpose, its ideological and functional values, and the broader trends shaping its space. I also explored aspects such as comfort, fabric qualities, and material options to suggest directions that could remain relevant over the long term.
Based on this research, I developed rough initial visual directions and discussed them with the brand team. These conversations helped me understand their reactions, the reasoning behind them, and which elements felt most aligned with the brand.
